A good app lets you leave.

The studio

dysy works. is an independent app studio in South Korea. An app has done its job when you can finish what you came to do and get on with your day.

We design and develop our own apps. None is released yet. This site shows how we decide what to build.

We start with small, repeated tasks.

Finding something you saved. Picking up a job you left half done. Each is minor. Together they make a day harder than it should be.

How we decide

Four questions before we build.

An idea has to answer all four before we commit to it. Pick one to see what we look for.

Four questions before we build

We name one task, the person doing it and what they use for it today. If we cannot say where that goes wrong, we do not have an idea yet.

What would stop us
We stop if we can only describe the idea as a category, such as productivity.

The first version gets one job and has to do it dependably. Before building anything around that job, we will try it as a small prototype with people who have the problem.

What would stop us
We stop if the first version needs a second job to be worth opening.

People close an app mid-task, lose a connection or come back a week later. The first version has to show what was saved, what needs attention and how to undo a mistake.

What would stop us
We are not ready if it only works on an uninterrupted first try.

An account, a permission or a notification each needs a reason the person using the app would accept. If we cannot give one, it stays out.

What would stop us
We are not ready if data, accessibility and upkeep are missing from the plan.

When something is decided, we post it on the Now page first. Until then we would rather say less than guess.
